Terms of use
Last updated 29 October 2026
These terms apply when you use Brain Dump. By signing in as a teacher or joining a session as a student, you agree to them.
What Brain Dump is
Brain Dump is a classroom tool that asks students to write what they know about a topic and then shows the teacher a map of the class's understanding. It is a teaching aid for formative use, not a mark, grade or formal assessment.
Teachers
- Access is by invitation. Keep your sign-in link private and do not share your account.
- You are responsible for using Brain Dump in line with your school's policies, including its data protection and safeguarding rules.
- Tell students not to enter their name or any personal information in their answers.
- Use the lock and remove controls if someone joins a session who should not be there.
- Results are produced with AI and can be wrong or incomplete. Check them before acting on them, and do not use them as the sole basis for any decision about a pupil.
Students
- Write only about the topic and keep your answers appropriate for school.
- Do not enter your real name, contact details or anyone else's personal information.
- Do not try to join sessions you were not invited to, or to disrupt a lesson.
Acceptable use
You must not attempt to break into, overload or reverse-engineer the service, use automated tools to join or flood sessions, or use it for anything unlawful or harmful. We may limit or remove access, and set daily usage limits, to keep the service fair and secure.
Your content
Answers and sessions belong to the students, teachers and schools that create them. You allow us to process them to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy, and we delete them on the schedule set out there.
Availability
We work to keep Brain Dump running but do not promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or withdraw features. Do not rely on it for anything where an interruption would cause serious harm.
Liability
Brain Dump is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from its use. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Continued use means you accept the update. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
